This is a wonderful collection of paintings that take a humorous look at the institution of marriage, from one of India’s most popular contemporary artists. It features dedicated mailing and e-mail campaign to targeted art related media & organizations. Atul Dodiya (b.1959) is one of India’s best-known contemporary artists. With a distinctive and often darkly humorous style, Dodiya uses modern artistic sensibilities to portray a variety of traditional Indian cultural issues. “Saptapadi: Scenes from Marriage (Regardless)” is a superbly illustrated volume that brings together more than 90 paintings, created between 2003 and 2006, that take a wry look at the institution of marriage through the use of bold Bollywood posters, Indian street culture, and classical myth, with reference to artists such as Picasso and Margritte as well as popular icons such as Bill and Hillary Clinton.
